Weekly update: Cookie Monster, Takei & Pinvolve

During the month of April, I threw my hat into the ring as a pro blogger on social media topics. My articles 'have been well-received' as one must boast in stuffy corporate lingo. I don't actually know the numbers from Search Cowboys and they don't give out weekly trophies or t-shirts with 'I am the best cowboy.'

Big Fat numbers for April

I do know my own numbers and connections have blossomed on:

About.Me (286)   Twitter (102)   Facebook (15)   LinkedIn (28)   Prezi (352)   Website (10,263)

Spring is here. It brought me April, one of the best months for Big Fat Writer to date with more than 10,000 hits to the website. Here's this week's top 4 in no particular order, unless you are Rob Steffe.

1.

Met Digital Marketing Consultant Rob Steffe and discussed our businesses, our LinkedIn profiles and social media gobbledegook. Rob owns two companies Cookie Monster Digital Marketing and COOL Media Management. COOL is short for 'Combine On / Off Line', and Rob is modest, honest, smart, and definitely long on cool. Find him on LinkedIn.

2.

Published an updated article about Pinvolve on Search Cowboys called Repin your Facebook, Pinvolve for all. I was also able to add the picture George Takei emailed me and added some quotes from Pinvolve CEO Stas Goferman. Pinvolve is the bridge between Facebook and Pinterest and helps you share your pictures and content fast and easy.

3.

Pinvolve launched a new website this week and has listed my two Search Cowboy articles on their Pinvolve is the News press page. I am under TechCrunch the #6 Best Blog and The Next Web currently #44 in the top 100 blogs by Technorati.

I am riding on top of the Pinvolve wave and find so much energy in all the hubbub. I am also learning so much about how social media acts and reacts to a new startup and how word-of-mouth works in the Twitter universe and blogosphere.

4.

On Friday, this was my view overlooking Amsterdam Central from the Havensgebouw (Harbor Building). Actually my view was in full color, not monochrome with green accents.

The offices of Kenes Education are sitting pretty on the 12th floor with a 360 view of the harbor, the city center, central station and open air balconies around the whole building. What an inspiring place to work. Plus, another great writing project with smart, informed, enthusiastic people.

Big Fat Top 5 of the week

1.

The elementary school project and blog Flat Stanley in Holland was selected for the Hardin-Jefferson Technology Showcase. My niece Avery Nolte (9) presented the blog to parents, staff and students. Because of the enthusiasm from Avery, her fourth grade class and her teacher Mrs. Long, the Flat Stanley page has more than 800 views, with 100+ coming from Sour Lake, Texas this week.

2.

Email interviewed the About.Me Community Manager Laura Gluhanich. In my prep, found a New York Times article on About.Me from April 5. Why is About.Me so lava hot? See my article: "Really, it's not you. It's about.me."

3.

On Saturday, the above Search Cowboy article was plucked from all the social media news as a 'top story' by Social Media Moguls Daily News on Twitter by @SocialMediaHaus with 31,000+ followers.

4.

Before the about.me article on Search Cowboys was published on Friday, I tried to use all the tips to pimp my page. Ummm...which looks a lot like Laura's page above now that I see them together. In just 2 weeks, 217 views on the about.me/bigfatwriter one-page business card website.

Little ole me as Big Fat Blogger was invited to speak, share, discuss and give tips about professional blogging to a group of writers and members of SENSE.

Poked Friday 13th in the eye

I poked Friday the 13th in its unlucky, big fat eye this week. Normally, Big Fat Writer does not need a "Weekly Recap." Most of the week's unbelievable, remarkable PR moments happened on Friday the 13th.

Many thanks to all the people, websites, tweets in my Top 5, in no particular order. I am humbled and thrilled. Some of my dearest friends and aunties have already messaged and said "Great, but I don't know exactly what that all means." It means I need to work on my bragging messages so everyone can get understand. Here's to an under-exposed, under-whelming, under-achieving Monday.
